  • “Roppongi Crossing” is an exhibition series held at the Mori Museum once every three years since 2004 as a fixed-point observation of the contemporary Japanese art scene. For the sixth edition held this year, the entire curation was carried out just by the three curators of Mori Museum for the first time in the series, to introduce around 25 Japanese artists that were born in the 1970s and 80s. The exhibition focuses on the “connection” that becomes visible through contemporary forms of expression. Technology, namely information and communication technologies are rapidly evolving, and problems that stem from this evolution are gaining attention. While a diverse set of values are becoming recognized, online, where things were thought be more open, opinions are quickly becoming assimilated, creating a handful of closed communities in Japan. How is it in your home country? At this exhibition, artists will present various “connections” through their art by connecting opposites, connecting different things, and making visible the connection that is already there.
