ROPPONGI ART NIGHT 2019：Tokyo’s premier art festival.Culture
A one-night celebration of art staged in the district of Roppongi
The Roppongi Art Night Executive Committee has announced that “Roppongi Art Night 2019” — a one-night celebration of art staged in the district of Roppongi — will take place on May 25 (Sat) and 26 (Sun). A diverse range of works including contemporary art, design, music, video, and performance pieces will be scattered around the district to create an extraordinary experience. “Roppongi Art Night” started ten years ago in March 2009. Leading artists in the Japanese contemporary art scene such as Kenji Yanobe, Yayoi Kusama, Katsuhiko Hibino, Mika Ninagawa, and Kohei Nawa have participated in the event, and it continues to evolve as Tokyo’s premier art festival.
The theme for this year’s edition is “Night Journey, Day Dream.” The featured artist Choi Jeong Hwa - the event’s first foreign artist in its history - is expected to create a glamorous and dreamy night. Don’t miss the colorful world that will appear in Roppongi at the hands of Choi Jeong Hwa, who consistently maintains that art and culture are for everyone who wants to experience them.
