Function and Patrick Russel will be double headliner for one night, only at nightclub VENT OmotesandoMusic
This is going to be a real tour de force of a double header! Function, the legend that left his mark on the techno scene as part of Sandwell District, and Patrick Russell, a true veteran of the American underground scene, who is now pull his weight in the New York techno space, will be coming to VENT on September 28th for a massive double header night!
Born and raised in New York, Function has been fascinated with techno ever since Jeff Mills' residency at the Limelight in the early 90s. He moved to Berlin in 2007, and along with Regis and Silent Servant, he went on to form the legendary label and production group Sandwell District. The sounds they delivered had a humongous impact on the next generation of techno musicians, bringing about a major shift in techno at a global scale. In 2012, they put the label to rest (survived as Performing Act), and when this sad news was announced Billboard Magazine published an article stating that Sandwell District's influence on underground dance music was immeasurable.
Detroit born and raised, DJ, artist, producer Patrick Russell has been active in the music industry since the early 90s and is now based in New York. Perhaps best known as a key member of the mythic party No Way Back. Busting out intense and unique sets that have been regarded highly, he's played at Labyrinth here in Japan, Berghain in Berlin, and at Detroit Electronic Music Festival/Movement. Currently, he is a resident at the extremely popular Bunker party, providing sick sounds for his local scene. He has a keen sense for extremes, and his stylistic evolution seems to be endless.
Both have played at Labyrinth in the past, leaving a lasting impression on the audience that is still talked about. Come join us for not one, but two super talented performers, in this absolutely rare form – do not miss this one!
