Sainokawara Open-Air Bath
西の河原露天風呂Sainokawara Open-Air Bath is one of Japan’s largest open-air baths nestled within wide open natural splendor. Here you can enjoy all the changes of the seasons from the fresh verdure in early summer, to the changing color of the leaves in autumn, and the snowy landscapes in the winter. And in the evenings, gaze at the night sky full of stars. The source of the hot spring is an ever hot well, almost as hot as magma, from within Kusastu Onsen. Because the water temperature is as high as about 95 degrees the spring water has an anti-inflammatory and sterilizing effect. It is also beneficial for burns and those suffering from nerve pains. There are separate changing rooms for both men and women but no washing facilities.
